Beads and a new start

I've slowed down a bit on my Cirque.....after getting all the stitching done,  I needed to start beading. Well the 3 big circles in the middle were no big deal. The first corner?? That's a different story. Even though I'm not using a dyed fabric, the 32 ct is just a bit too small for the Mill Hill beads I picked. So I am having to free hand the pattern to make it fit. I'm not very good at making things up, hence only one corner is done. I still want to add a few beads around the edges, but that corner is almost done. I've looked at the other 3 corners and YES those will all need to be "adjusted".
 Here is the overall

Here is a close up of the 3 big circles beaded

and here is a close up of the beaded corner (still needing a few around the edges)

And I am a member of The Stitchers Village (badge on the right of my blog) and each member is to stitch a piece of ribbon band for a sampler that Patty will then put together. I had a piece picked to stitch but it didn't "feel" like me. So when I saw the JBW design "Mitten" I knew it was meant to be. I stitched it in one day! I changed the "mitten" to say Michigan to personalize it. I did it in Waterlilies Mediterranean silk to symbolize the waters of the Great Lakes.
And I ended up finishing a piece I started a year or 2 ago. I would like to finish it into a rounded flat fold of some kind.....still mulling that finish over......

I'll end with the weather....as you know most of the north has been under a "cold spell" this week. We have not been in the 20's for over a week now, some days were a high of 6F. Here is my pond and waterfall now.......if you are outside, you can still hear the water running over the rock, but you certainly can't see it!
Brrrrrr

So what better to do when it's 6F outside??? Go to the INDOOR water park where it's 87F! Till next time....stay warm!!!
Watch out with the bucket spills!

Going down the big tubes was her favorite thing.

  1. Of course I love CdC :) Too bad the fabric is just a smidge too tight for the beads, but you are doing a great job getting around it :) It'll be so cool when done! I like the LHN piece - cool fabric! I'm sensing a WINTER theme to the 2nd half of your post :) Lily pads - that's cool!

  3. Your weather looks like ours, Nancy--it's getting quite tiresome, don't you think?

Wow--your Cirque piece is amazing--you're so close to a finish!! And I love the LHN you're stitching for a friend. I stitched that a few years ago and it is one of my favorite finishes. I have one of those old windows with no glass in the basement, too--hmmm... now you've got me thinking!

Love the color you used in your mitten. I've only seen it in red before and this is such a nice change.

Glad you were able to "pretend" you were in the sun at the waterpark... Looks like a great time was had by all :)

    Stay warm now!

  4. Cirque is looking magnificent, what a shame about the beads but it looks as if you are working around the problem.

  5. That's a great snow globe. Can't wait to see the final finishing! The indoor water park is a great thing up north isn't it? To be honest I wish we had one here for the summer when you melt as soon as you walk outside. America is looking very pretty. CdC is fantastic!!!!

  7. I really like the beaded corners. How nice of you to stitch something up for your friend. I haven't seen that one before, she is going to love it. You chose great colors. Love the snowglobe too!

  8. Seeing CDC as a whole really points out the differences between the different number of strands you used and the beds, I love how it came together! The snowglobe looks great, as does your LHN :). It looks like you all had a great time at the water park. We have one about an hour from here, but it's part of a resort, so I'm watching foe deals to see if there's an affordable day to take the boys!

  9. Your stitching is lovely as always. Could you sub petite beads for the seed beads and then they would fit better?

  10. CDC is supremely Beautiful! And I love all your other finishes. I live in SD and we have been having the same cold weather as you but today and tomorrow we are in the 30's so a person can stand to be out side for a while.
    Happy Stitching
